Relegation is a great thing. In many soccer leagues, the last place teams are demoted to lower leagues, and first-place teams in the lower leagues can be thrust into the top leagues. Imagine if a Major League baseball franchise – like the Dodgers – finished in last place, and the punishment was that they had to play the next season at the Triple-A level. It’s a brilliant feature that should be adopted here in the US for all our professional leagues.
