VIDEO: Apparently, It’s Okay To Mock Tim Tebow’s Religion

31Oct

Throughout his star-crossed career, Tim Tebow’s Christianity has been part of the legend. The man with the mouth and mind of an altar boy has the heroic skill to lead Violent Men-Beasts to Victory on the Football Field. It’s compelling, no matter what your relationship with God may or may not be.

Now that Tebow matriculated to the NFL, his exploits are oh-so-perfectly exhibited on Sundays, which is when our nation collectively worships at the national secular church, the NFL.

Tebow has been seen kneeling in prayer, like many players do, on the field. The gesture has caught fire as meme media on the Internet. Whatever. It’s funny and slightly tasteless, like most things that amuse us online (perhaps including this website). Making fun of someone’s religion is not okay, but since people think it’s funny, and since Christians have been doing more oppression than being oppressed (in the last 1400 years or so), the mocking of Tebow’s Christianity is not generating outrage.

Now, Tebow’s opponents are mocking Tebow’s genuflecting.

If the NFL has any integrity at all, this should draw a fine. Can you imagine if a defender sacked a quarterback who was Jewish…and then donned a yarmulke and chanted in Hebrew? It’s NOT cool, bro.

It’s ok to mock it when they make such a public deal about it. Jesus never said to pray on the 50 yard line during an NFL game.

    excuse me but read this…
    “pray without ceasing”… 1 Thessalonians 5:17

    everywhere, all the time, anywhere

“Who are you to judge another man’s servant?” Let Tebow do what is in his heart. And let the mockers mock. Didn’t Jesus say as much to ALL Christians? And btw, the writer of this piece should bone up on his history and theology. Just because a group calls themselves Christian doesn’t make them Christian. Persecution of real Christians was part of those perpetrators MO.

    • @glenn…not sure what you mean. Tim Tebow isn’t Christian? Is that what you’re asserting?
